Coaches, Board, Managers, Locker room Parent
Step 1. Register with USA Hockey as a coach/player
Step 2. Complete a USA Hockey background screening
This is an important step in keeping our kids safe and MUST be completed by all board members, coaches, managers, and locker room parents before any contact with an RFYHA Team and/or players. This screening must be done every other year. This is to show you that your criminal record is clean.
Check your background screen status HERE
Step 3. Complete the USA Hockey SafeSport Module
SafeSport training is now required annually and is extremely beneficial and important to the safety of our players. This important step MUST be completed before any contact with an RFYHA team and/or players. This screening must be completed each and every season.
Step 4. CLICK HERE to Register with RFYHA as a Coach or Volunteer.
This is needed so we can build an Official USA Hockey team roster for coaches and add you to our database. Being in our database ensures you will receive pertinent information about RFYHA.
5. Complete the USA Hockey online Age-Specific Module PRIOR to taking the ice with your team
This is to focus your knowledge on the age group you intend to coach this year. Once you take the module for a specific age group, you are done forever (so you only have to do each one once).
You must complete the AAM for your current coaching level PRIOR to participating in any team activities and cannot be added to a roster until completed. This WILL BE checked at USA Hockey-sanctioned tournaments.
6. Register to Complete the next step in the Coaching Education Program (CEP) Clinic Training - PRIOR to 12/31
All coaches are required to take USA Hockey CEP training. These are usually in-person clinics that must be completed by December 31st. If not completed by December 31st you will not appear on the USA Hockey Roster and will not be allowed on the ice or bench for practice or games. You can find your status on the USA Hockey website.
Find, register and attend the required certification clinic. You can only attend one clinic per season and all coaches start at Level 1. The coaching clinic season for Levels 1-3 officially runs from September 1 to December 31.
