NEW TO SKATING OR HOCKEY?

These three programs are available to choose from for ANY FIRST YEAR SKATER AGES 4 – 8 who live in the River Falls, Ellsworth, and Prescott school districts.  They include:

 

  1. Mite Youth Hockey Development Program Special Winter Registration –  This program starts on November 29th and continues through the end of February.  It includes over 30 practices by coaches teaching the fundamentals of skating and hockey.   No prior skating experience is needed to enter this program. Equipment may be available to use.  The cost for this program is $100, with a fundraising commitment of selling fifteen $10 raffle tickets, and helping at tournaments/varsity games for 15 hours during the season.  More detailed program information can be found here.  To register for this special program.
    1. E-mail jchockey15@gmail.com as soon as possible of your intent to register to reserve a spot.
    2. Complete online registration with USA Hockey and pay the necessary USA Hockey Fee (if applicable) - USA Hockey Website
    3. Complete supplemental WAHA forms - Parent/Athlete Concussion Fact Sheet - Click Here & Parent/Athlete Concussion Acknowledgement Form - Click Here
    4. Review the RFYHA Policy Handbook
    5. Attend registration night on Sunday November 23rd from 5:30 pm – 7 pm at the Wildcat Arena.  Bring your USA Hockey confirmation and copies of the WAHA forms.  Blank registration forms will be available to fill out. 

 

  1. FREE Learn to Skate Program [PROGRAM FULL, E-mail jchockey15@gmail.com TO BE PLACED ON THE WAITLIST ] – This FREE program runs from October 26th – November 26th and includes 10 hours of on ice instruction, equipment to use free of charge and no additional costs/commitment.  This program is designed for skaters who are new to skating/hockey but are unsure if a full season is right for them.  Register early as space and equipment are limited.  Click here to learn more about this opportunity.  If your child would like to continue skating after participating in Learn to Skate, they can transition to the Mite Youth Hockey Development program and skate through February.   It includes 30+ practices of continued on ice instruction teaching the fundamentals of skating and hockey.  Click here to learn more about this program and visit USA hockey’s guide to getting started in youth hockey here.

 

  1. Try Hockey For FREE Program– On November 8th, kids are invited to participate in one hour of on ice instruction for FREE.  The first 40 kids registered will receive a FREE USA hockey jersey. RF Girl Scout Completes Gold Award at Wildcat Centre


Some new landscaping

Cassandra Laidlaw, a local Girl Scout, has completed her Gold Award at the Wildcat Centre! The Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve. Cassandra worked very hard with a good group of volunteers to give the Wildcat Centre a much needed tune up.
